The average cost of Invisalign is $3,500.
When working with an orthodontist, COST is based on the length of treatment time. It depends on how long you will be in your orthodontist’s office. Treatment time is based on the amount of dental correction required.
Teeth move 0.25mm every 2 weeks or an estimated 0.5mm per month.
Example #1: If your teeth have 6mm of crowding, then your treatment time will be 12 months of treatment. (6 x 0.5mm = 12)
Example #2: If your teeth have 6mm of spacing & 6mm of protrusion, then your treatment time will be 24 months or 2 years of treatment. (6 + 6 = 12 . . . 12mm x0.5/month = 24)
Someone who has a 2 years treatment plan has a more difficult dental malocclusion and is a more detailed case.
Their case costs more because:
1. it takes more time to treatment plan a case creating a way to move the entire dentition (all of the teeth) to alleviate the moderate or severe crowding, spacing or protrusion, etc.
2. the patient is in the office for longer visits, more often and a longer period of time. Someone who has 6 months’ worth of treatment should pay less than a patient in treatment for 2 or even more years.
3. more training is needed by the practitioner. (example: orthodontists go to school full-time for 3 additional years AFTER dental school.
